This 27min commissioned documentary tells the story of the Gull Bay First Nation and how they pioneered development of Canada’s first fully integrated solar microgrid (where solar energy is captured and stored in batteries).
Funded largely by OPG (Ontario Power Generation), the documentary reveals how this innovative clean energy project came to be and why it successfully demonstrates the capacity to replace diesel generators in remote communities across Canada. Taking its title from the Anishinabe word for ‘the power within us’, the film intimately reveals the Indigenous values on which the project is grounded. As we follow the construction process, from inception through key project milestones, and ultimately to its official launch, the story is told by the leaders of the Gull Bay First Nation and the team of organizations who partnered with them to illustrate the potential for this technology.
